Treasure In Earthen Vessels

But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us. We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:7-10

This quote kept going around in my head last week.  I will admit that it is not totally appropriate to the situation since it was written about ministry. Talk of how fragile our democracy is and sights on the news that made me angry, made me cringe.  I am ashamed to be from Missouri at the moment.  I didn't vote for the man I am ashamed of, but he came from my state and my state gets mentioned when his name comes up. I cried to see the riots, the chaos.

Put on love, have faith, believe God is in charge.  These thoughts have sustained me. If I light the candle of my faith and the next person does and the next person, perhaps we can work to extinguish the hatred and division that seems to run in a vein throughout our country.

Life is important, love is important.  Put on love.  Remember that Christ came to lead us to the light. Head towards the light.
