Hot Oven

We had a little heat wave last week.  This is not unusual for this time of year.  I seem to feel the heat more than I used to and stay in the air conditioning as much as possible. I don't walk that imaginary dog much in the heat.  I have concluded that it just isn't safe.

Thursday it was really hot, over 100 degrees.  Friday is garbage day and I have to get things out to the curb.  I waited as late as I could.  But, even at 10 pm the sidewalk was hot, the air was stifling.  It felt like an oven.

Hot.  I am not a fan.  But, I like fans.

July Is Here

I view July as the most doldrum of months.  It is hot around here in July.  People are on vacation so groups stop meeting with regularity.  Have I mentioned that it is hot?  It is too hot to do most things that I would enjoy outside.  It is too hot to do much besides melt.  Swelter is my word for July.

Back when I was a teacher the back to school sales would start in July and that was just depressing.  Usually I had just closed down the classroom, taken things home and arranged them to wait for the next school year and bam, back to school was already in sight.

July starts out with a bang and with fireworks, but then it sinks into melt. I look forward to some waterplay with the grandchildren.  I have a splash pad and a little pool for them. July, yawn, I can't wait for you to be over.

It's Hot, Hot, Hot

Summer blew in last week.  It is now typical Midwestern summer weather. Hot and humid with occasional rain, but not enough to keep the sprinklers from being used.  The air conditioning runs and runs and runs.  Thank God for the air conditioning.

I still have a squirrel problem. Squirrels in the soffit. I hear them. I need to figure out who to call. I hear Ghost Busters aren't available. I am having some motivational issues in walking the imaginary dog.  Poor thing doesn't get out as much as I would like. I am still daycare for my grandchildren and it looks like that will continue for the summer. Life goes on and there are still cares and concerns.

The cycle of life is that there will always be problems.  There will always be things to dread and things to work on and things to solve.  These things change from time to time.  It keeps life interesting.  I am trying to learn to enjoy the ride and not anticipate tomorrow so much.  Enjoy the present.  Don't worry, be happy, as the song says.
