For the 4th year I making reindeer hands of my grandchildren. I trace around their sweet little hands. Then I cut out the shape in foam. In the past I have used brown foam. I may branch out this year and try some different colors. I have googly eyes which I glue to the thumb. I make antlers out of pipe cleaners. Then I put some little bells on festive string. I use a hot glue gun to place those things on the hand. The thumb is the head, the fingers are legs.
I write the name and date on the back. With the passage of time the hands get bigger and bigger. But, after about three the change is slower. I guess I will continue this practice. I imagine someday at 30 or so they can look back and laugh at this strange craft and how little their hands once were.
