Boring Post for Saturday---When My Grandson Comes to Play

Many Saturdays my grandson comes to play at my house. He gets up on Saturday mornings and asks if it is a school day.  If it is not, he tells his mom that Grandma is coming to take him to her house.  And many Saturdays I am.  We drive over the river and through the woods and we get to me house.  We often go to the basement and play with the odds and ends.  I have my mom's old picnic basket that she got with S and H Green Stamps.  She made the basket a toy box when she began to have grandchildren.  It has old toys that belonged to myself and my siblings.

Old toys like Polly Pockets and doll house furniture reside in the old picnic basket. My grandson loves to look through the old picnic basket. He finds each of these historical treasures to be fascinating. There is a dollhouse ironing board and a crib that have moving parts.  Those pieces were my sister's toys.  There are some cars from my brothers. There is an old bride doll of mine. After the picnic basket is examined, we play with the exercise equipment, the old computer, and explore odds and ends.  My grandson loves the basement.

My grandson and I go upstairs. We have a time with music on the CD and he plays the keyboard.  He has recently come to enjoy the harmonica. This boy is musical.

Then we make lunch. Often lunch is chicken nuggets and pancakes.  Then he announces we need to leave in 5 minutes.  Five minutes is a nebulous amount of time.  But we are on the going home side of things.  I have enjoyed so much watching and participating in the growth of this child.  He is such a joy.  He is a gift from God.
