My grandson has always loved music. Perhaps it is because I sang to him off key to pass the hours when I babysat for him when he was very young, but I doubt it. I arranged to play CDs as soon as I could during those days. We listened to a lot of Sesame Street and I sang a lot of children's Gospel songs. You know the ones about Noah and my light shining and Christmas songs.
When he got a little older his daddy put a mix of songs on the in house speakers that I could call up for a while. Then it stopped working to my voice command. But, I discovered that I could get the classical radio station. So I would play classical music. Eventually, as my grandson got older he would request classical music. He even told me that he loved classical music.
But, lately the little music lover has become more discriminating. If I sing along to something he likes he will say, "No, no music." If I belt out the old standards about Noah or the light that I have to shine, he will say, "No, no music." But, if it is something that he wants to learn, he will let me sing. I suppose if I want to sing with him I will just have to increase my repertoire.
