My grandson's favorite gift this year was a trash truck. He loves trash day. Those big trucks that roar up the street are the height of excitement for him. The driver often waves and honks for us. Trash trucks are the biggest grandest thing in my grandson's small world.
My understanding is that lots of little kids are into trash trucks this year. With parents working from home, kids go fewer places and see fewer things. My grandson hasn't been in a store in almost a year. I am the only grandparent he sees regularly, although he has several and they all live locally. So, trash trucks are thrilling.
My granddaughter has been to very few places in her short life. She is almost walking and she has never been in a store or to a party or to church (except for her Baptism). She puts everything in her mouth these days. She has been teething for months and has even achieved 2 teeth and knows how to use them. At least that is what I think when I try to use my finger to fish something out of her mouth.
The kids were a little overwhelmed by Christmas. I think that my grandson is tired of gifts. It is too much work to open all of them. But, I know that as the winter drags by he will enjoy new things to play with. I know that I look forward to playing with all the new stuff!
