Yarn Long

I have wanted so badly to take my place in the Yarn Alongs.  I read.  That part would be so easy.  But generally I quilt.  I once learned to do basic knitting, but I didn't like it much, so I never pursued it.  I have crocheted more than a few things, but mostly easy things like afghans and scarves.  So, when I saw a pattern book for baby booties that labeled them "easy" I thought I would give it a whirl.  I can do "easy."   Or maybe not so much.  But here is my one and only attempt at the Yarn Along.
As you can see, I haven't gotten far on the booties.  Easy isn't what I would term them.  Medium or hard maybe.  I don't like the wooden hook I got, so I am looking for the metal one I am more familiar with and perhaps that will help.

If I had time to read for me I would read Dearie.  I have started it, but it is a big book and I have so many middle school books to read that I have put it down for now.  It is about the life of Julia Child.  She was an interesting woman.  I am reading The Dark Unwinding which is steam punk middle school literature, one of the competition books.  I generally don't like steam punk, but I have enjoyed this one so far.  It is a little weird and eerie but it has an element of mystery and history. I expect to have it finished by the end of the week.

I consider myself an advanced knitter and even I don't think baby booties are easy! Hopefully you'll join us again for another yarn along.
