Word for the Year

I read about this on some other blog I clicked into from Jennifer Fulwiler's 7 QTs.  And what is "this" you may be asking?  Did you not read the title?  A word for the year.  I read about having a word for the year.  I wasn't sure if there was someone who had a random word generator like the saint one that Jennifer made, but it seemed that the person I read was saying that her word had been revealed in prayer.  Now that sounded like a Good Idea to me.

So, I prayed about a word for the year.  I prayed that the Holy Spirit would make know to me a word that I could reflect upon this year.  The immediate result was --zip, nothing, nada.  I thought, maybe this is a bad idea, or maybe the word will be revealed later.

Later, at work I was checking out books and one student needed to renew his book, only he couldn't think of the word.  I found myself saying to him--Renew, renew, you need to renew.  And I felt the tug on my heart--that is exactly what I need to do.  Renew.

I have so many areas of my life that need renewal.  And the Lord is here with steadfast love.  The quote I am starting out with is from Lamentations 3:22-24--"The favors of the Lord are not exhausted, his mercies are not spent; They are renewed each morning, so great is his faithfulness, My portion is the Lord, says my soul; therefore will I hope in him."  Notice the hope in that quote?  Perfect for me to be renewed by the hope in the Lord each morning.  Great is His faithfulness.

My word for 2012 is RENEW!

Mary,

My word for 2012 is "joyful," also revealed as a tug on my heart in answer to prayer.

May God bless your journey.

That word is wonderful. It is filled with hope. I also like how it came to you.
My word is immerse, I want to immerse myself in nature, in prayer, in silents, in all God has to show me.

Thank you for sharing this.
