I am occupied most days throughout the school year at my job. I am a librarian in a large public middle school. I run a large library with over 18,000 volumes. I am the only librarian in a large room and until this year, I had no staff. This year I have a high school girl who comes between 10 to 15 hours per week.
There are times when my job in this large library can be exhausting. There is a lot of ground to cover. A lot of decisions to be made, from books to order, to books to withdraw. I move books around. I am the first librarian at this new school. I am establishing a program. Last year I moved every single book because I needed to loosen up the tight fictions shelves.
This winter, last week actually, I moved all the biographies. Those are the books you see against the wall. In order to do that, I moved the professional library to my workroom and tightened up the reference books.
I also made this display of award nominees. I am not artistic.
These shelves are being repopulated from the biographies that they used to contain.
Then I will move these books around the corner to the other side and loosen up these shelves.
This is the other side of the room, the fistion books. I am not moving any of these, this year.
And that is what is going on in my library these days.

Wow Mary, that is one big library! I love to see all those books! My son is in a Catholic School for his middle school years and they have so few books. Sad really. No budget for it but thankfully, we have a wonderful local library!
I taught in a Catholic middle school for a couple of years and we had no books. It was really hard. These kids have a bounty.
