1. The anniversary of Roe v Wade was this week and it occurred to me that among the children who were never born was probably at least one that we might have adopted. Having only one child, if adoption were still a possible option, my husband and I probably would have gone that route. Instead, adoption is a really really long and difficult journey and not one for the faint of heart. And almost impossible if one already has a natural child.
2. I waited too long and by the time I decided to see the Monet exhibit at the Art Museum all the tickets were sold out. I hate it when that happens. I guess I will just have to whip up to Chicago and see my Monets at the Art Institute.
3. Let's see, on my last endless Tuesday of meetings I learned--not to be late to work, as if I ever would; not to leave a classroom unattended; not to be alone with a student, ever; that the room that special ed put in my library in place of my nice conference room is probably not legal; that a millions-aire who never in his life went to public schools or sent his children to them, wants to end public education in support of 'for profit' private education institutions; that the first step toward that end is to stop the tenure law; that our friends had their email account hacked and hacked again last week. I think it would all make a lovely Broadway musical.
4. I finished watching the whole first season of Downton Abbey. Loved it. There were a few quibbles with historical accuracy. The cook should have had glasses after the cataract surgery. I have forgotten the other ones now, so obviously they weren't that big a deal. But, quibbles, I had a few.
5. My husband's pogo plug came Wednesday. I pictured him jumping up and down with it, but apparently it has something to do with computers.
6. We continue with our gray winter weather around and about. I am not entirely sure I remember what sunshine looks like.
But we haven't had anymore of this stuff. It continues to be a mild winter around here.
7. In the Gospel reading this coming Sunday, the people will be astonished by Jesus' teaching. I try to live each day astonished by the teachings of our Lord. He is teaching me astonishing things every day, if only I would pay attention.

3 beautiful thought{s}:
Don't lose hope! We have five beautiful biological children and are in the process of adopting number six! Adoption has always been a dream of mine and now it will become our reality!
Some things are worth fighting for!
Hi Mary,
We never opted for adoption either due to the numerous obstacles my brother went through. My husband is happy with our one child and doesn't want to go through the adoption process. Both have to be on board with this big decision.
Yep, I am 58 and it is too late to adopt and I am too old and tired to start with a young one again. I have thought about fostering, but my hubby would need to be on board with it.
I hope that my son finds a nice Catholic girl someday (soon, Lord, soon) and settles down and has a quiver full of grandbabies for me. (Notice I didn't say kids for himself and his wife. The Lord is still working on me and my desires vs. His plan. LOL)
