7 Quick Takes

Jennifer Fulwiler hosts this meme.  Go visit the rest.

1. Despite the snow on Dec 27th, winter was largely absent this year.   But yesterday the teeth of winter came out. and it has gotten cold (in the teens) and snowed (only a couple of inches, but blowing).  But, seriously, I wouldn't mind skipping winter.  It has my permission to pass us by this year. and in the church year we are back to ordinary time again.  Green, green green.  Even the church calendar is suggesting that we skip winter.

2. Thursday after school activities were cancelled (see picture above) and so I got to leave early.  Considering that the roads were snow packed, the temperatures were in the teens and my hubby wasn't coming home until after the hockey game, I decided to chuck my plans to have a nice meal out before going home, I went home and hunkered down. Leftovers and television was good enough.
3. My woman's group has decided to watch the Catholicism DVDs by Father Robert Barron for our next "book".  Our church has a copy of the set and we are borrowing theirs.  I am really looking forward to that.  It should be awesome.  In the true meaning of awe inspiring.

4. I was recently praying about the way my life is going.  It doesn't seem to be at all following the script I would have written for it.  As I prayed, I recognized that I am not the script writer for my life, as much as I would like to be.  The Author of Life has a plan, a mission for me, and it probably doesn't fit the script I would have written for myself.  But, if I open my eyes and Praise the Lord and remember the goal is Heaven, this life will be even better than any script I could have written. There is wonder and excitement to behold each and every day.

5. I removed the feed burner that I had on the sidebar when I noticed that it advertised an alcoholic beverage website.  Seriously, advertising alcohol is the very very last  thing I would ever do on this blog.  I apologize to anyone who might have seen such an ad here.

6. I have been trying to read more books lately.  As part of my job, I really need to be familiar with as many as possible.  And then I enjoy reading, so I try to read for that reason.  And information....Terrible to be a librarian with too much to read.

7. Three day weekend ahead.   I should have plans.  But maybe the plans will make themselves. (This is a placeholder disguised as an entry.)
