7 Quick Takes--Volume 20

Link to Conversion Diary and you will really read some quick takes that will be really interesting. But this is what is going on in my neck of the woods, or bend in the rivers.

I lector again this Sunday. This is the closest together I have ever lectored. At least there are no really hard words to throw me off this time. I hope.

This week I started in earnest on getting things done that need to be done in the summer while I have time. I had a blood test. I got the oil changed for the car. I went to the dentist. I went to a meeting at church. None of that makes very good blog fodder. Or maybe I am just not paying attention. Interesting things may have happened all around me and I was not listening.

I have been trying to go on long walks at least a couple of times a week. I have pushed myself farther and farther. I tell myself that I have to get in shape, because someday we will go on vacation again and I will need to be able to walk 20 miles in a day. (Maybe I exaggerate, or maybe not, have you ever vacationed with my husband? Didn't think so. He walks and walks.)

The Lord has been speaking to me about opportunities lately. Some things that seem hopeless to me are just opportunities to work for the Lord. Help wanted ads so to speak. And opportunities to let the Lord show His power and His might. He doesn't need our poor efforts but He loves it when we are on board with His plan for salvation. It has helped my attitude. No problem is too big for the Lord.

The new archbishop for St. Louis was installed on Wednesday. I think he is a peach. I hope he is here for a long, long while. There have only been 10 leader bishops/archbishops in the long history of the St Louis archdiocese and I, who moved here in 1990, have seen 4 of them which is nearly half of them. We have been a revolving door lately so to speak. And a lot of our former auxillary bishops are out there in other diocese. We seem to shake them up and move them out. Archbishop Carlson said in his opening homily that he seems to have trouble holding onto a job, so perhaps we are a perfect fit.

In the interest of shameless self promotion let me encourage you to start thinking boring, as in Boring Posts for Saturday. You might want to play along tomorrow. See the sidebar for the image created by Dawn. Write a post, borrow your favorite logo from the sidebar, and leave a comment on my post on Saturday. And vote for your favorite design for the Boring Posts for Saturday along the sidebar here.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-5 "But you are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness." and 11 "Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do." Indeed we are children of the light. Called to be light for the world.

Love #7 :)

about broing posts for Saturday:
I like the idea of just randomly writing whatever pass you head on that day. I have more time to blog on Sundays and I will be happy to read the saturday on Sundays...
Anyway I love design 2 and 3 a lot.
I know you like the first one best (well this is what I understood form Dawn) but I really like 2 and 3 better. I think they are more inviting, and look more "modern". The first one gives a "good woman daybook" feeling. Oh I don't remember the name, but you know that meme where you write what's out your window and in your oven... Some women manage to make it without sounding boring...

Anyway.

Looks like I'm getting ready for Boring Saturday ;)

I don't necessarily like number one image best. I like the color of the lettering. When Dawn sent them to me I had trouble opening the images and I thought there was only one. I like all the images the way a mother can love all of her children. I will probably leave all three up unless one of them becomes the clear favorite. I am looking forward to reading your post tomorrow.

I can't decide between 2 & 3, either. It was a good idea to put all of them up for the choosing. I agree that #1 has that Daybook feel to it, but I wanted a blank background to put teal lettering on. Looking forward to being boring.
